Sublocade vs Brixadi

both long-acting buprenorphine injections reviewed for opioid use disorder

Not a head-to-head comparison. These drugs were studied in separate trials with different designs, populations and timepoints. Each figure below comes from that drug's own reviews and cannot be lined up against the other's.

What the regulatory reviews say

Sublocade and Brixadi are long-acting buprenorphine injections reviewed for opioid use disorder (OUD). Sublocade is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe OUD in patients who have undergone induction to suppress opioid withdrawal signs and symptoms with a transmucosal buprenorphine-containing product. Brixadi is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe OUD.

Sublocade's review noted a treatment success rate (responder) of 28%-29%, with a 2% difference compared to placebo. The cumulative percentage of negative opioid use (100%) for placebo was 1%. Brixadi's review reported a responder rate of 16.9% for CAM2038 and 13.9% for SL BPN/NX, with a responder rate difference of 2.9% between CAM2038 and SL BPN/NX.

It is crucial to note that these drugs were studied in separate trials with different designs, populations, and timepoints. The endpoints, patient populations, and comparator arms varied between the studies. Therefore, the figures presented are not head-to-head comparisons, and neither drug is presented as superior to the other.
