What the regulatory reviews say

Ubrelvy (ubrogepant) and Nurtec-ODT (rimegepant) are oral CGRP antagonists indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. Regulators reviewed Ubrelvy based on trials that reported pain freedom at 2 hours for ubrogepant 50 mg as 19.2% and for ubrogepant 100 mg as 21.2%, compared to 11.8% for placebo. Nurtec-ODT's review included data on pain freedom at 2 hours, showing a 5-10% range for rimegepant versus placebo, and freedom from most bothersome symptom at 2 hours, ranging from 8-12% versus placebo.

The trials for Ubrelvy and Nurtec-ODT differed in their specific designs, patient populations, and timepoints for assessing outcomes. For instance, Ubrelvy's review provided specific percentages for different doses and an Odds Ratio for pain freedom, while Nurtec-ODT's review presented ranges for pain freedom and freedom from most bothersome symptom. These figures are not from head-to-head comparisons, and therefore, neither drug is presented as superior to the other based on these separate trial results.
